Aluminum U Channel Profile, Side-Mount – overview
The Aluminum U Channel Profile, Side-Mount (MOD 0610) is an aluminum U channel profile for frameless glass railings. It is fixed to the vertical face of a slab, balcony edge or stair stringer, so the floor stays free and the glass seems to float in front of the edge.
MOD 0610 is listed on page 11 of the UNIKIM 2024 catalogue with its matching corners MOD 0611 and MOD 0612, the end cap MOD 0613 and the glazing kits MOD 0800 / 0900. The top-mount version for floors is the Aluminum Glass Railing System – Top-Mount Base Shoe (MOD 0600).

Applications
Frameless glass balconies and terraces fixed to the slab edge; stair and mezzanine balustrades fixed to the stringer; commercial facades, shopping centres and hotels where the floor finish must run to the edge.
Installation notes
- Fix the profile to a level, load-bearing structure with anchors suited to the base (concrete, steel or timber) – the structural engineer sets the anchor type.
- Insert the setting blocks, stand the glass in the channel and lock it with the wedges and gaskets of the glazing kit MOD 0800 / 0900.
- Order the kit for your exact glass build-up (12 to 21.52 mm).
- Panel size, glass type and loads must be checked against your local building rules.
Side-mount or top-mount?
Choose the side-mount MOD 0610 when the profile must sit on the face of the slab or stringer. Choose the top-mount Aluminum Glass Railing System – Top-Mount Base Shoe (MOD 0600) when the profile is fixed on the floor surface.
