Slot Tube Handrail System for Glass Balustrades – overview
A slot tube handrail system puts a round stainless steel handrail directly on the top edge of the glass. The tube has a slot underneath; a rubber strip in the slot grips the glass, and fittings join, turn and finish the handrail – no posts are needed along the run.
The UNIKIM system (catalogue pages 12–17) has the slot tube MOD 0300 in Ø42.4, Ø48.3 and Ø60.3 mm, nine matching fittings and rubber strips for glass from 8 to 31.52 mm. Every part below has its own product page with drawing and article numbers.

Applications

Installation notes
- Install and align the glass first (spigots, base shoe or clamps).
- Fit the rubber strip for your glass thickness and press the tube onto the glass.
- Join lengths with MOD 1150 and finish ends and corners with the matching fittings.

Which tube size?
Ø42.4 mm is the most used handrail size; Ø48.3 mm gives a fuller grip; Ø60.3 mm suits thick laminated glass and large public projects. All fittings and rubber come in the same three sizes.
